Route Options Consultation Results

Sunshine Coast Council has released the Sunshine Coast Light Rail Community Consultation Report, which details responses received during a four week consultation period and a recommended light rail route corridor for further investigation.

The consultation was successful with over 700 members of the community choosing to complete the survey that canvassed general opinions on the proposal for light rail, as well as route option preferences for the key areas of Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, Kawana and Caloundra.

Of those who completed the survey, 87 percent were in favour of council's light rail investigations. This has given us the confidence to move forward with more detailed technical investigations, which we will undertake over the coming year.

The further investigations will enable Council and the State government to make an informed decision on whether light rail is feasible as a transport and city-shaping option for the Sunshine Coast.
